>> The prison death of Boston's most notorious mobster, Whitey Bulger, is now being investigated as murder, and this man, convicted Mafia hitman, Freddy Geas, is reportedly under investigation for his killing. The Boston Globe is reporting the 89 year old Bulger was murdered by more than one inmate and that Geas didn't dispute his role in the killing.
Geas is serving a life sentence for the murder of former mob boss, Al Bruno. He had been serving time at the Hazelton high-security prison in West Virginia, where Bulger had been transferred just a day earlier. A prison employee says surveillance footage showed two men entering Bulger's cell. He says that his body was later discovered wrapped in a sheet and that he'd been beaten so badly that blood was coming out of his ears.
Federal officials say no other inmates or staff were hurt. Bulger was serving two back to back life sentences after he was convicted of 11 murders. The infamous mob boss and one-time FBI informant had been living as a fugitive for 16 years before he was captured seven years ago in Santa Monica, California, where he was living with his long time girlfriend.
Burger was portrayed in Hollywood movies, including Black Mask after Johnny Depp played the career criminal, who headed Boston's Irish mob, known as the Winterhill gang, for more than 20 years.
