>> I have a powerful microphone and a powerful platform.>> A controversial week for Megyn Kelly ends with her show being cancelled. NBC on Friday pulling the plug on Megyn Kelly Today, after the host sparked widespread criticism for defending the use of blackface as part of Halloween costumes in an on air segment.
Kelly later apologized, but it was not enough to save her morning talk show, which has struggled with low ratings in the year since it launched. Kelly's attorney on Friday saying that she remains an employee of NBC News, and quote, discussions about next steps are continuing. The Today Show however reporting Friday that the network is negotiating her exit, and remaining three year, $69 million contract.
NBC hired Kelly after she shot to stardom on Fox News, notably sparring with then presidential candidate Donald Trump as a debate moderator.>> And I asked you a tough question about women, using only the words that you had used. I thought it was a fair question, why didn't you?
>> Earlier this week, Kelly cut ties with Creative Artists Agency, the talent agency that that repped her. Reports say a rival agency that had been courting Kelly before Tuesday's backlash has now backed away. Other Today Show co-anchors will host during the 9 AM hour that had belonged to Kelly beginning next week.
