techies all powerful leader faces the embarrassment of losing his capital in local elections tie bad one is real tacky for sixteen years with an ever tightening grip in June last year a national election victory vastly expanded his presidential powers it alarmed western allies he fed techie is drifting deeper into authoritarianism , I believe there could be brought back down to earth on Sunday in an election that at times has gotten nasty which is tacky bureau chief Dominic Evans this may just be local elections but type everyone has been campaigning like his life depends on it I'm spending the last two months crossing the country speaking up to eight times a day %HESITATION a large rallies of his supporters he's described these elections as a matter of survival Pataki he's described his %HESITATION opponents political opponents as terrorists and he's really making this into a very polarizing very bitter campaign , everyone's critics say he is increasingly relying on divisive rhetoric since a currency crisis in August ended years of economic growth misty pulled in the labor last Friday reminded voces of last years meltdown across techie that dot the dominant issue in this election is the economy %HESITATION everyone has delivered years and years of strong growth in this country but now voters are looking at the high inflation they've seen %HESITATION food prices soar in the first two months of this year %HESITATION they've seen the layer a weakening again this week %HESITATION and the economy is pretty much in recession unemployment is also growing , the many tags the vote is all about what the ad one can still deliver a decent standard of living and many may start to doubt that is the path to economic recovery looks challenging
