>> A gruesome find at a now defunct funeral home in Detroit. The bodies of 11 babies were found hidden inside what used to be the Cantrell Funeral Home, Friday, after an anonymous letter prompted authorities to search the premises. Nine badly decomposed bodies were found inside a box, and two more were discovered inside a casket that were all hidden by a false ceiling.
Authorities are in the process of identifying the remains, and notifying parents. But that could be complicated, since it is unclear how long the remains were hidden, and some of the births appeared to be stillborn. Owners of the funeral home could not be immediately reached by Reuters, but this business has come under scrutiny before.
In April, state regulators found embalmed bodies in an unrefrigerated garage and other badly decomposed remains on the premises. The funeral home was shut down earlier this year due to several licensing and financial violations.
