> He's telling Catholics here to pray to the angel St. Michael, who he specifically enlisted to aid in the fight. The strategy's not sitting well with some of his harshest critics in the Church though. Chief among them, the Archbishop Carlo Viganò, who says the Pope is now trying to compare him to the Devil.
It's because when Francis first issued the orders to pray to St. Michael in late September, he referred to the devil as quote the Great Accuser. Vegano has accused the pope and many other church officials of actively covering up at least one sexual misconduct scandal, and demanded Francis's resignation.
As the head of the Roman catholic church, Pope Francis has long been open about his belief that the devil is a real being, same as God or Jesus.
