at least one west point cadet has been killed and twenty two people injured after a tactical vehicle flipped over at the U. S. military academy in west point New York Thursday roughly sixty miles north of Manhattan the accident occurred near the camp natural bridge a summer training site for cadets of the injured twenty year cadets and to our active duty soldiers all have been taken to nearby hospitals their conditions not immediately known the New York times quoted a west point spokesman as saying the five ton cargo trucks known as a light medium tactical vehicle was transporting the cadets about eight miles from west point's main campus to the training area when it overturned early Thursday because of the accident is unknown but a commissioner from the Orange County response team told the times that the vehicles are prone to rollover as they are designed with a sharp turning radius is to get through water and mud New York governor Andrew Cuomo in a statement said the incident is quote made all the more heart wrenching as we commemorate the seventy fifth anniversary of D. day today a day where we remember those who gave their lives for our country vice president Mike pence visited west point just weeks ago to speak at the academy's commencement ceremony
