German chip maker Infineon is buying U. S. rival cypress semiconductor for just over ten billion dollars the deal brings together two big makers of chips used in calls and other devices Boston Fignon is paying a forty six percent premium over cypresses share price last month that has some traders saying that it's over paying shares in the firm down over five percent in early trade Monday Infineon is undaunted though it says the takeover will give it greater strength in a growth market as calls get ever more complex they also need ever more chips the German firm says the deal will also deliver cost savings of about two hundred million dollars a year by twenty twenty two boards of both firms have agreed to the deal which is expected to be complete by late this year or early next
