global stock markets were on an upswing Thursday the S. and P. five hundred reached an all time high investors around the world feeling pleased after the federal reserve confirmed hopes that a rate cut is likely coming the fed is not the only central bank hinting at looser monetary policy central banks in Europe the UK and Japan are also free up cash to deal with a global economy that slowing because of the trade war between the US and China the world's two biggest economies HM drum Powell has been under intense pressure from the White House for over a year with president trump criticizing Powell for rates being too high and there were reports the president is so unhappy he thought up demoting Powell but the fed chief says he's not going anywhere could you clarify what you would do if the president tweets are calls you to say he would like to demote you as fed chair , IBM I think the law is clear that I have a four year term and I I fully intend to serve it financial markets are now pricing in a one hundred percent chance the first rate cut comes as early as the fed's next meeting in July
