investigation has found that several coaches and a doctor who were banned from professional sports in the wake of the Russian doping scandal are still involved in athletics now years later this man is one of them his name is Leri Volkov and he received a four year ban in two thousand seventeen for allegedly encouraging a track and field athlete to refuse a drug test that could have found performance enhancing substances we found him at this Russian university a technical institute Gabrielle Tetro far better from the rotors Moscow bureau on cover the story so the institute invited evoke of say he was only teaching fizz that but what we actually witness was a formal training session %HESITATION we saw athletes run around the track under his instructions a stopwatch %HESITATION and for example we even saw him massage and athletes like the main issue here is you have people who are banned for go before still working active in sports asked me to do work with them can face sanctions the doping scandal Russia broke out in two thousand fifteen but these findings show that the story is far from over , the scandal first broke anti doping officials said it was part of a widespread and systematic manipulation backed by the Russian government it's most closely associated with the Olympics and is why so many Russians were blocked from the last winter games the world anti doping agency says it will follow up with their Russian counterparts and other authorities over Reuters findings
