the pride flag being flown outside the Wisconsin state capitol is turning heads it's the first time the flag is flown outside the legislative building and it's generating Republican outcry democratic governor Tony Evers on Friday issued an executive order stating the flight will fly for the rest of June to mark pride month which celebrates the LGBT Q. rights movement started since the Stonewall riots activists in brace the order as a sign of progressive change I think that is for sure needed to happen it's amazing that he's helping us out like that but the move was not met with such a warm embrace by some Republicans including state lawmakers Scott Allen in a tweet Allen asked quote is this any more appropriate than erecting the Christian flag over the capital Wisconsin family action president two lane Appling slammed the order as quote a flagrant abuse of gubernatorial power and said it is giving one group preferential treatment over others in the order ever said the rainbow pride flag quote sends a clear and unequivocal message that Wisconsin is a welcoming and inclusive place where everyone can live without fear of persecution judgment or discrimination
