I believe democratic senator Elizabeth Warren I apologize to the Cherokee Nation on Thursday for taking a widely criticized DNA test to prove her claims to native American ancestry after being mocked openly by president trump and punk rock this is not happy she got what she brought claims that she's of Indian heritage because her mother said she has high cheekbones the Cherokee Nation said Warren had a brief and private conversation with the Cherokee nation's principal chief in which she apologized for causing confusion on tribal sovereignty and tribal citizenship and the harm that resulted I am not a person of color I am not a citizen of the tribe last month war and cleared up her native American ties to a crowd in Iowa tribal citizenship is very different from ancestry I will give you a million dollars , if you take the test to chose your in India after trump encouraged her to take a DNA test Warren last year took the test which showed she had a native American in her family tree dating back six to ten generations native American leaders criticized worn for using the test to lay claim to obey connection to a tribal nation the leader saying that culture in sovereignty were just as important as blood and %HESITATION tested not great inter tribal citizenship Warren who was created an exploratory committee for a possible presidential run in twenty twenty will likely not bring up her distant native American ancestry again tribes and only tribes determine tribal citizenship and I respect that difference
