the measles outbreak in south western Washington state is getting worse state health officials now confirm at least fifty cases of the highly contagious disease the latest case was confirmed in king county home of Seattle that the outbreak has been concentrated one hundred fifty miles south in Clark County where officials have so far confirmed forty nine cases since January first most of those who have come down with the measles were not vaccinated against the disease and most were children between the ages of one in ten the outbreak forced health officials there to declare a public emergency Clark County is located near Portland Oregon which is a known anti vaccination hot spot where many families choose not to immunize their children for personal religious or medical reasons officials are now urging parents to make sure their children get vaccinated against the disease
