>> Pakistan's Supreme Court has refused to put a Christian woman back on death row for blasphemy, dismissing Islamists' calls for Asia Bibi to be executed. Her case has been hugely divisive in the country, which is very religiously conservative. Bibi had been on death row since she was convicted in 2010 of making derogatory remarks against Islam, which she has always denied.

Thousands protested in October when her conviction was first overturned. Bibi is said to have had an argument with neighbors, in which they accused her of insulting the Prophet Muhammad, and Pakistan has strict laws against blasphemy. The government stopped Bibi from leaving the country in an attempt to calm the unrest.

She's been in hiding ever since. Canada is in talks with Pakistan about helping her claim asylum abroad, if she's allowed to leave.
