>> Any response?>> The Senate Intelligence Committee, on Thursday, subpoenaed President Donald Trump's former attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, to testify on Capitol Hill in mid-February. The move comes one day after Cohen delayed his much anticipated public testimony before Congress citing what his advisors call ongoing threats against his family by President Trump.
00:00:22
>> I would say he's been threatened by the truth.>> A subpoena to appear behind closed doors was confirmed by Cohen's advisor Lanny Davis who said Cohen tends to comply with the Senate order. Reuters' correspondent Andy Sullivan is following the story.>> So now we know that Michael Cohen is going to testify on the hill after all supposedly to make up for the misleading erroneous testimony he gave them last year.
00:00:45
But this is gonna be behind closed doors so we, the members of the public, are at best gonna get a secondhand or third hand account of what he actually said, what actually went down. We still don't know whether he's gonna testify in public. That's before the other committee that's chasing him, House Oversight.
00:01:00
>> Cohen had been due to appear before that committee on February 7th to tell what he knows about Trump's contacts with Russia, including efforts to strike a deal on a Trump Tower in Moscow while he was running for the White House in 2016. Davis said on Wednesday the President was bullying Cohen via Twitter and in media interviews.
00:01:20
Trump called Cohen a rat last month, and suggested he had damaging information on Cohen's father-in-law.>> That's the language of a mobster, not of the President.>> Davis said the comments constituted intimidation and witness tampering. Top Democrats in Congress voiced similar concerns.>> Let me be clear, that is simply unacceptable in a democracy.
00:01:42
>> I was up on the Hill yesterday talking to members of the House Oversight Committee. They say they're considering a subpoena as well. They really wanna get him to testify, say what he knows in a public setting so that all of America, all of the world can hear it.
00:01:55
>> Cohen, Trumps former fixer, was sentenced in December to three years in prison for tax evasion, bank fraud, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress. He has provided information to special counselor Robert Mueller. In his probe alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether Trump or members of his campaign conspired to try and win the race.
00:02:17
Cohen told the court he acted at Trump's direction during the 2016 campaign when he bought the silence of porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Both of whom claim to have had affairs with Trump years ago. Trump has denied the alleged affairs and allegations of collusion with Russia, calling the probe a witch hunt.
00:02:36
>> Because it's a whole big fat hoax.
