but we will be looking at a national emergency because I don't think anything's going to happen I think the Democrats don't want border security president Donald Trump not sounding too optimistic Friday about bipartisan negotiations on border security his comments came a day after house speaker Nancy Pelosi bluntly shot down his proposal there's not gonna be anymore money I think Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of herself because she's trumps insistence that Congress pay billions for his border wall led to the thirty five day partial government shutdown and now bipartisan lawmakers are trying to hammer out a deal to avoid another one by February fifteenth they're not going to get money for the wall it's not gonna work despite trump's pessimism bipartisan negotiators were upbeat throughout the week on hopes that both sides are willing to find common ground we've got to make some difficult trade offs we can't have it all this is our first real opportunity %HESITATION to show that we can do our job Democrats opening offer include one thousand new customs officers at US ports of entry imaging technology to scan vehicles coming into the country but no money for a wall trumps repeated threats to declare a national emergency to get as well funded is opposed by Democrats and Republicans alike as to whether he'll actually take such a controversial and legally dicey step certainly thinking about it , I I think there's a good chance that we'll have to do that
