vestigators are still trying to find out why a gunman opened fire on a Toronto street on Sunday night killing 2 people and injuring 12 others. Toronto Mayor, John Tory, on Monday offered his condolences to the families of the victims.>> Our entire city has been shocked by this cowardly act of violence.
As I said earlier this morning at the scene, I'm, of course, angry as we all are that someone would carry out such an attack, which really amounts to an attack on our city itself.>> Police say the gunman began his assault at 10PM local time in the city's Greektown neighborhood.
ll phone video shows the scene as gun shots rang out and police responded. The suspected shooter was later found dead. Tory says the incident underscores an issue that needs to be addressed.>> There are far too many people carrying around guns in our city and our region, who should not have them.
>> This is the second time this year Toronto has had to deal with tragedy brought about by violence on the streets. In April, a driver in a van plowed through a crowd, killing ten people. The identity of the assailant in this latest attack has not yet been released.
