It was his chance to end a ten year victory drought. But the 2018 British Open was nothing, if not disappointing for golf legend Tiger Woods. He had a good start, landing first place with birdies on the 4th and 6th holes. But it was the 11th fairway with a devastating double bogey, that sent him on a downward spiral.
He eventually finished at 6th place with a score of 71. Ireland's Rory McIlroy had a similar disappointment coming in 2nd place. He hasn't won a major title since 2014. The two are seen sharing hugs outside the scoring room after the tournament. Black horse Francesco Molinari went home with the grand prize becoming Italy's first Major Champion after firing a closing 2 under par 69.
The results will sting for a little bit, said Woods. But with his first taste of Major Championship drama in years, he can be expected to buckle up and try again.
