>> The US Senate is back in session on Tuesday and Senate Republicans are planning to take our President Trump's proposal for funding bill that could end the partial government shut down this week, that's according to an aide to senate majority leader Mitch McConnell. On Saturday Trump offered three years of protections for some undocumented immigrants and for holders of temporary protected status if Democrats agreed to his unwavering demand for $5.7 billion for a wall on the US Mexico border.

>> That is our plan.>> McConnell welcomed Trump's plan to end the shutdown as a bold solution. An aide to McConnell said the legislation will include bills to fund government departments that have been closed during the shutdown as well as some disaster aid and the President's immigration proposal.

But Democrats quickly panned the deal.>> He's the one who got rid of DACA protection in the first place. What it really shows is his lack of compassion and empathy for people that are suffering and I think it's a non-starter.>> House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called it a quote, compilation of several previously rejected initiatives.

Democrats insist Trump reopen the government before they negotiate over government spending. But Republicans said that any deal without Trump's wall funding would be pointless.>> If you bring a plan to him that doesn't include a wall, it's dead as four o'clock.>> Trump also faced a backlash from some anti immigrant supporters who called his offer quote amnesty.

To them, Trump appeared to respond quote no amnesty is not part of my offer. It is a three-year extension of DACA. Amnesty will be used only on a much bigger deal, whether on immigration or something else. Trump says the wall is needed to end what he calls a national security and humanitarian crisis at the border.

But a crisis is brewing back home. 800,000 federal workers remain furloughed and many like the tens of thousands of employees in the IRS, TSA or border patrol are working with no pay. The shut down is in its 32nd day. If no deal is reached by Friday, affected workers will have gone a month without pay.
