The glamorous star dropped off the radar in June, disappearing from social media and has not been seen in public. The 32 year old's disappearance causing concern among fans, and fueling wild speculation.
Including reports that she may have been detained by the Chinese government, while other reports say she's in Los Angeles seeking asylum. All this playing out as Beijing cracks down its burgeoning film industry. Reuters correspondent, Pei Le.>> China has been on a campaign to cleanse the art world, as the government tells actors and actresses to purify their behavior, to make sure they're more in line with the so called socialist core value.
And to tell them you have to not only pursue professional excellence, but also moral integrity. Recently, Beijing Normal University and China's Academy of Social Science issued a social responsibility index. Ranking the top hundred celebrities in China, in which Fan Bingbing was actually ranked in the bottom, with a score of zero.
>> The ongoing shake up is also hitting entertainment and movie companies, which have seen their share prices tank as China tightens it's grip. As for Fan Bingbing, Reuters has been unable to contact her, and calls to her agent have gone unanswered.
