>> We the jury unanimously find the defendant guilty of murder as charged in the indictmentt.>> Ex-police officer, Roy Oliver, convicted of murder Tuesday for the fatal shooting of un-armed black teenager Jordan Edwards in the Dallas suburb. The verdict was a rare instance of an officer being found guilty of murder in the killing of an unarmed person.
In April 2017, Oliver was responding to reports of underage drinking at a house party in Balch Springs southeast of Dallas. Prosecutors say he fired five shots from a rifle into a car full of teens as it was driving away. Edwards, a 15-year old standout student athlete was struck in the head and later died.
Oliver faces up to life in prison.
