>> A firefighter helping to battle the Carr Fire in California was killed in a traffic collision on Thursday, bringing the death toll from that blaze to eight. Officials say the mechanic died in a crash on Highway 99 after his vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree.
The devastating Carr Fire has scortched roughly 176,000 acres north of San Francisco. It's killed two other firefighters, along with three members of a family and has destroyed nearly 1,100 homes. Elsewhere in the state, police arrested a 51 year old man on suspicion of setting the Holy Fire. Forrest Clark is charged with multiple criminal counts including aggravated arson and making criminal threats.
Clark reportedly had conflicts with his neighbors and sent an email to a local fire chief saying quote, this place will burn.>> This is a monster. Who would go out with low humidity and high wind and highest heat temperatures this time of the year and intentionally set the forest on fire?
>> Also in Northern California, firefighters continue to fight the Mendocino Complex Fire which now ranks as the largest wildfire on record in the state.
