>> US president Donald Trump has picked his next United Nations ambassador. A source telling Reuters that he's flagged State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert for the job. Nauert has no previous experience in policymaking before moving to the State Department in April 2017. She was a Fox News correspondent and anchor.
Nauert will replace outgoing Ambassador Nikki Haley. Arising Republican start, Haley took many by surprise when she announced her resignation in October. Haley has held the post since Trump first took office, and says she'll stay until the end of the year. Now his nomination would require confirmation by the Senate.
Fox News says Trump plans to tweet out news of his choice on Friday morning.
