>> Jasmine Headley walked out of a New York jail Tuesday night after charges against her were dropped in a case stemming from this violent confrontation with NYPD officers.>> I'm just happy to be free, and I just need to see my boy. They're hurting my son!>> This cell phone video of the 23-year-old mother surrounded by police officers went viral.
It shows them trying to yank Headley's one-year-old son, Damon, from her arms at the Brooklyn Social Services Office. The young mother says she went to the office to find out why her childcare vouchers had stopped. She said she had been waiting for four hours with no seats available, so she sat on the floor with her son.
Witnesses say when security guards told her she had to move, the confrontation began. At one point in the video, an officer could be seen waving her stun gun at the crowd. Headley was detained on charges including criminal trespass and resisting arrest. She was taken to Rickers Island and held there for five days.
Her son was turned over to her mother who says Jasmine was only trying to protect her child.>> There was no reason for NYPD to tug and pull like the way they did with him. He was a rag doll basically.>> The NYPD Commissioner called the video "very disturbing" and says the incident is under investigation.
