>> Time magazine has named four journalists and one news organization as its 2018 person of the year. Time calls its choices the guardians in the war on truth. Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Maria Ressa, editor of a news website in the Philippines, known for its critical coverage of the Duterte government.
Reuters journalists Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo arrested and jailed in Myanmar after investigating the killing of 10 Rohingya Muslims. Their wives are seen holding their photographs. And the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland where in June four journalist and a sales assistant were killed by a gunman who opened fire in their news room.
They will be featured on four different covers. Time says the group was chosen for quote, taking great risk in pursuit of greater truths for the imperfect but essential quest for facts that are central to civil discourse for speaking up and speaking out.
