>> An anti-Kremlin activist linked to protest band Pussy Riot was probably poisoned his doctors in Berlin say. Pieter Verzilov was flown to the German capital at the weekend after falling sick in Moscow. His family say he initially lost the ability to see, speak or walk. Verzilov invaded the pitch during the soccer world cup final in Moscow in July along with three other Pussy Riot members.

They were dressed in police uniforms in a protest over free speech and jailed for 15 days afterwards. Pussy Riot members said he was recovering but still in danger.>> We all believe it was an assassination attempt and if not it was an intimidation. Because probably Pieter knew something that he wasn't supposed to know.

And we have a suspicion what could it be, but we cannot talk about it without Pieter's consent. So we have to wait until we will regain his consciousness.>> The activist is also the publisher of MediaZona, the news website that focuses on human rights violations in Russia's penal system.

He fell ill a week ago after attending a court hearing. Though no longer in danger, he still needs intensive medical care. The doctor said they haven't found traces of the toxin. Saying too much time may have elapsed since any poison was administered. But they said the rapid onset of symptoms and the absence of signs of any other disease or infection, pointed to poisoning.
