>> We believe Christina Ford. We believe Anita Hill.>> As protestors flooded the halls on Capitol Hill to show their support for Christine Blasey Ford, her lawyer told a Senate committee that Dr. Ford would be prepared to testify about allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh next week, if the terms are fair and her safety is ensured.
00:00:23
Republican Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley had set a deadline of Friday morning for her to respond, to an invitation to testify before the senate on Monday, where Kavanaugh would also testify. An act some democrats saw as strong arming.>> The option is show up on Monday, or don't show up at all.
00:00:41
I consider that to be bullying.>> But Monday is not possible, her lawyer said, though they could continue to hammer out the terms. Ford came forward to accuse Kavanaugh of assaulting her more than 30 years ago. She claims he pinned her to a bed, groped her, and tried to cover her mouth when she screamed.
00:00:59
Kavanaugh forcefully denies the allegations, called them quote, completely false. But Ford's defenders in Congress say her story checks out. I believe Dr. Blasey Ford because she's telling the truth. And you know it by her story, you know it by the fact that she told her therapist five years ago.
00:01:18
It was documented at the time, we have her therapist's notes.>> Ford's team now appears to be dropping the demand that the FBI open an investigation into the allegation, a request Republicans had rejected anyway. The scandal seems to be taking a toll on Kavanagh's appeal. A Reuters' poll found popular support for the nominee dropping to historic lows.
00:01:38
Just 31% of respondents told Reuters they support the nominee, while 36% oppose, and 33% said they don't know. Ford, on the other hand, seems to be getting support from up on high. On Thursday, this banner was seen flying over Palo Alto, California, reading quote, thank you Christine, we have your back.
