under mounting pressure to get heat speech off its platform Facebook on Thursday said it booted off half a dozen controversial personalities including Alex Jones and info wars and Milo Jana Polish from Instagram and Facebook after deeming them quote dangerous under its policy it's a sign that the social media giant is stepping up enforcement of its hate speech policies after facing backlash from civil rights groups for not doing enough in an email statement Facebook said it's always band individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate and that the process for evaluating potential violators is extensive far right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones in his media outlet info wars were banned from Facebook in twenty eighteen along with bands from apple YouTube and Twitter but had maintained a massive presence on Instagram until Thursday's ban Facebook said nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan referred to Jews as termites and called the religion dirty and its followers liars cheaters thieves leading to his band the social media giant said it wasn't just removing pages groups and accounts set up to represent those who were banned but would also remove Facebook events if it learns any of its banned individuals are participating
