James Jordan was arrested Saturday in connection with the brutal attack on the Appalachian Trail that left one hiker dead and another severely injured the thirty year old Massachusetts man is accused of attacking the two hikers with the machete authorities were able to locate Jordan along the trail in southwestern Virginia after one of the victims who later died Centeno merchants the notification on the cell phone last month Jordan was arrested on assault charges in Tennessee after threatening hikers on the trail with the knife he pleaded guilty and received probation but ended up back on the trails yeah I've had customers you know like back before this even happened I had a couple guys stayed with me that told me they said you know that he came into their camp he was running his mouth authorities say the victim who was injured a woman walked six miles while bleeding before she found other hikers and asked for help the victim who died was a man neither has been identified
