the number of measles cases in the US has hit its highest level since the year two thousand when the country declared the virus eliminated federal health officials have confirmed six hundred ninety five measles cases so far this year when parents decide you know what I'm not gonna be nice my kids they're not only rolling the dice for their own child they're rolling the dice for other people for babies under the age of one who can't get immunized for people with cancer people with immune systems that aren't functioning correctly health officials are blaming the resurgence of the highly contagious disease on misinformation about the safety of the vaccine when you see a disease that is preventable with vaccination it is somewhat disheartening the majority of measles cases have been concentrated mainly in Washington state and New York where parents have opted out of the vaccine due to religious reasons or because of fears the vaccine is unsafe I think people assume that measles is just another childhood infections measles can be very deadly and can cause a lot of permanent damage to your child so far no measles deaths have been reported in the latest US outbreaks
