S. democratic presidential primary candidate Joe Biden will have his first campaign rally Monday the former vice president will speak to union workers in Pittsburgh I knew the threat to the station , was unlike any I had ever seen in my lifetime Biden announced his candidacy last week and quickly sort of fundraising record for this early point in the race he pulled in six point three million dollars in the first twenty four hours the best first day of any democratic contender in the race thus far Biden's union rally in Pittsburgh comes as Democrats try to woo support from organized labor a powerful constituency in party primaries they want you to have political power over the weekend several democratic candidates addressed a conference for the over two million member service employees International Union in Las Vegas federal minimum wage is seven dollars and twenty five cents now that is fifteen thousand dollars you can buy a live off of fifteen thousand dollars a year in this country they spoke of the need for a higher minimum wage and linked dwindling union strength to rising income inequality , candidates also want to show they can compete in states such as Pennsylvania Ohio Michigan and Wisconsin which critics say Democrat Hillary Clinton neglected and ultimately lost in twenty sixteen
