a policeman trying to save his partner's life that's what Muhammad nor told the court he was trying to do when he shot an Australian woman in a dark alley back in July of two thousand seventeen nor took the stand on Thursday in Minneapolis the first witness called to testify by his defense attorneys the controversial shooting was one of a wave of police killings which have sparked outrage among the public nor told his side of the story on Thursday on the night of the shooting demented called nine one one to report a possible sexual assault near her home nor said that when he and his partner arrived they heard a loud noise his partner then went for his gun but couldn't get it out of the holster nor said quote he turned to me was fear in his eyes then he caught sight of a blonde haired woman outside the car window near his partner he says she raised her arm and what he called a split second decision he responded by reaching across his partner and shooting her nor faces charges of second degree manslaughter and third degree murder which carries a twenty five year prison sentence he's pled not guilty nor cry during his five our testimony and said quote if I knew this would happen I never would have become a cop
