the senate injecting renewed hope into president obama's tattered trade agenda tuesday voting to put so called fast track authority on the floor for a final vote later this week the vote was sixty two thirty seven just enough to squeak by just a very important , easy about tomorrow in the actual legislation , getting fast track authority would let obama cut a final deal on the massive twelve nation trans pacific partnership one of his top second term goals but the deals pat has been treacherous so far democrats in congress are mostly unwilling to help obama due to a huge backlash from unions and activists who see the deal as hurting u. s. jobs vermont democrat bernie sanders this trade agreement will continue the policies of nafta cap stock permanent normal trade relations with china agreements that have cost us millions of decent paying jobs but even if the senate approves all of these measures they will still have to make it back through the house before they get to the president's desk if all things go well hopefully by the end of the week , it has three quarters of the child , giving president obama reason to be optimistic
