made in china twenty twenty five the communist party's vision for the future of chinese production robotics medicines and cutting edge technology a sharp contrast to the so called workshop of the world legions of small manufacturers that have driven china's rapid great for the past few decades i'm braces sue in long i recently visited you a factory town three hours from shanghai it's an area where many manufacturers have been forced to shut down with low level industries no longer beijing's priority twenty years ago what's on june bills hop an underwear factory armed with little more than an elementary school education , now he says government support for small manufacturers is dwindling and rising labor costs and a stronger currency a squeezing his business , who would have to lay off two hundred of his three hundred workers in the past four years , i think what he can to keep his business going betting big on him , an interesting idea but with the government's new focus on high tech production and high end products his once thriving company could be driven into the ground , so many manufacturing still makes up a big chunk of china's economy but as it strives to compete with high end phones in europe the u. s. and japan some say beijing could be on course to wipe out traditional industries that once helped lift hundreds of millions of people out of poverty
