>> Lambs to the slaughter, not these. They share the unlikely fate of being saved by Silvia Bernasconi this Easter. The former Italian Prime Minister has enraged the meat industry by adopting five lambs that would otherwise have become Easter lunch. And urging Italians to choose vegetarian in this video.
With him are his girlfriend and an animal rights activist from his Forza Italia Party. It's not confirmed that a vegetarian, but it has been reported. The 80 year old is shown frolicking with the lambs at his country estate near Milan more known for his so called bunga bunga sex parties.
Bungasconi faces trial in July for allegedly paying witnesses to keep silence over his antics at both events. He protests his innocence, but this has given his critics more fodder. Some accusing him of milking the opportunity to win the hearts and minds of voters and revive a flagging political career.
