>> Alabama Republican governor, Robert Bentley, in the hot seat Monday, as he faces the beginning of impeachment proceedings. Just a day after leaders in his own party called on him to resign. The two-term governor stands accused of the inappropriate use of state resources. A charge that surfaced after recordings and steamy text messages revealed he'd been having an extramarital affair with a former female aide, Rebecca Mason, seen here alongside the governor.

One exchange has the governor telling Mason, you look beautiful and feel so soft. Mason later responding, bless our hearts and other parts. That evidence coming to light by Bentley's wife of 50 years who filed for divorce in 2015. An investigation by the Alabama Ethics Commission finding Bentley violated campaign finance and ethics laws.

With state legislators also claiming the governor tried strong-arming law enforcement officials over the damaging recordings.>> I do not plan to resign. Bentley so far is refusing to step aside despite admitting to personal mistakes he has denied wrong doing in the face of the past year of impeachment efforts.
