>> A gunman in California killing his wife as she taught in a classroom on Monday. One of the special education teacher's young students was also fatally shot, before the attacker turned the weapon on himself. Police say he opened fire with a high caliber revolver in a San Bernardino elementary school.
A nine-year old was also badly wounded in the assault. Authorities say 53-year old Cedric Anderson had a criminal history, one which included weapons charges and domestic violence that predated his brief marriage to Karen Elaine Smith. The couple had been separated for about six weeks. Police said Anderson visited the school to allegedly drop something off with his wife.
He kept his weapon hidden until opening fire in the classroom. An estimated 10,000 people are murdered with guns each year in the United States according to federal crime statistics. There have now been 12 school shootings in the US this year alone.
