The White House announcing Friday it won't release its visitor logs, it says out of safety for the visitors, for at least five years after Trump exits the building. These reverses the policy of the Obama administration to voluntarily provides logs of who was coming and going.

The White House website where visitor logs were, went dark after Trump became president, a notice there promised to post records of visitors, quote, on an ongoing basis, once they become available. On Monday, a coalition of nonprofit groups sued Homeland Security to obtain logs of visitors to Trump's many homes, including the White House, Mar-a-Lago, and Trump Tower.

The lawsuit accused the Secret Service, which maintains the logs, of violating the law by ignoring requests for lists of visitors.
