I wanna remind you of the words of Dr. King that he spoke right here at Morgan to the class of 1958. He told them, quote, tensions which we witness in the world today are indicative of the fact that a new world is coming into being. Today, once again, we are living through the emergence of a new world, and all its accompanying tensions.
You're graduating into a world and a country where structural income inequities persist. A country where there's a desperate need to deal with the greatest threat to our generation, climate change, and you have deniers. A country where we still need to change the culture around how we treat black lives because black lives do matter.
Don't tell me things can not happen. Don't tell me you can't do it. Don't tell me we can not fully, totally succeed, and it's your job to get it going.
