>> Former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn is not cooperating with the Senate's Russia investigation. Flynn declining the intelligence committee's subpoena and invoking the Fifth Amendment. Which candidate Trump once announced as proof of guilt when it was Hillary's aides under investigation. Fifth amendment, fifth amendment, fifth amendment.>>
]>> Reuters correspondent, Warren Strobel.>> Potentially, we have Flynn's decision to not cooperate complicates the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation into his activities and into Russia's alleged interference in the US election. So the committee is going to try to compel Flynn's testimony anyways. It could do that through the courts primarily.
>> Horrible.>>
It could also do that through an offer of immunity, which General Flynn has indicated that he would, in return for immunity, provide testimony and documents.>> Flynn has so far refused to hand over any documents, but NBC reporting Monday that his former colleagues, Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and advisor Roger Stone did.
The legal problems surrounding Flynn seem to be mounting.>> The House Oversight Committee which has been looking into these matters as well, released part of a document that indicates that Flynn was not completely truthful when he re-applied for security clearance in January of 2016. Flynn basically said that US companies had paid for his foreign travel, when in fact, we now know that at least in terms of his trip to Moscow in December 2015, Russia Today paid for that trip.
So it indicates that Flynn may be in even more hot water.>> Flynn was forced to resign in February for lying about his conversation with Russia's ambassador to the US. He's also under federal investigation for failing to disclose that he was a paid lobbyist for the Turkish Government during the campaign.
