The allegations date back to the last general elections in 2015 amidst claims some campaigning costs were wrongly recorded.

The supposed irregularities coming to light after a Channel 4 News investigation. Britain's Crown Prosecution Service is now expected to rule on whether there's been a breach of the law. The UK Prime Minister's Conservatives are sitting pretty in polls. Ahead of a parliamentary vote on June the eighth if candidates are prosecuted the party will have to make a quick call on whether to suspend or replace them. The deadline for candidate registration is Thursday.
