Several students also turning their backs on Trump's top education adviser. DeVos' appearance, like her cabinet nomination itself, causing controversy before she even stepped through the door.
Thousands had signed a petition trying to block her appearance. Wary of welcoming the woman who earlier this year praised black colleges for being examples of school choice. When most were founded by those with no choice, as they were banned from whites only colleges. BCU's COO opting to use the occasion as a teachable moment.
