>> The prime minister does the cooking, the first husband washes up. That's the big revelation from UK Prime Minister Theresa May's interview with US Vogue. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, May took the chance to say she is not the new Iron Lady. There can only ever be one Margaret Thatcher, she said, I'm Theresa May, I do things my way.
An explanation too for that video with Donald Trump. May says the US president was just being a gentleman when he held her hand at that White House meeting, helping her down an awkward ramp. New mention of media claims she was helping him with the phobia of stares. May also saying she likes to think the two of them got on but she wouldn't tell the fashion mag whether she had asked him about his controversial comments on women.
Saying, she doesn't comment on private conversations. Finally of course, an insight into the wardrobe of a fashion conscious PM. May's shoes, sometimes seeming to get more attention than her policies. She says powerful women should be free to enjoy fashion, but it's a dangerous business for her. Controversy last year after she was snapped wearing pants priced at around 1,000 pounds.
The Vogue shoot carefully calibrated to avoid a repeat of the so-called Trousergate.>>
