>> President Donald Trump considering sweeping new sanctions against North Korea in the wake of its recent missile test and an escalating nuclear threat. Senior US official telling Reuters the sanctions would aim at cutting Pyongyang off from the global financial system. And could be modeled after the sanctions leveled against Iran that led to the 2015 deal reining in its nuclear program.
The sanction's one part of a multi-pronged effort to heap pressure on North Korea, coinciding with a warning of a military option delivered during Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's tour of Asia last week. On Saturday, North Korea said it successfully tested a rocket engine which experts believe is part of a program to build an intercontinental missile capable of hitting the United States.
