>> An airstrike has killed at least 33 people near Islamic State held Raqqa. The Syrian Observatory of Human rights says it hit a school sheltering displaced people on Monday night, and believes it was carried out by the US led coalition against IS militants. At least 33 bodies have been counted at the site near the village of Al Mansura.
The coalition's escalated its aerial campaign against the militant group there this month. That's caused many civilian casualties according to the Observatory.
spokesman for the US led coalition has said in the past that it does everything it can to avoid harming civilians. The Syrian Democratic Forces, a Kurdish led group of militias backed by the US led coalition is fighting to isolate Raqqa.
That ahead of anticipated assault on the city, which Islamic State has used as a base to plan attacks abroad.>>
