>> Including opposition leader Alexai Nevalny who was stopped shortly after arriving at the Moscow rally. A Reuters report saw Nevalny escorted into a police van. Hundreds of protesters crowding around to try to prevent him from being taken away. The opposition had urged people to take to the streets with 80 cities across Russia expected to take part.
Riot police made their presence felt here in Moscow, pushing and pulling their way through the crowd to reap down protester's signs. The criminal said on Friday, the plans were an illegal provocation.
