>> Police say six people died at a Florida nursing home after the facility lost power during Hurricane Irma. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation after three elderly residents were found dead at the Rehabilitation Center of Hollywood Hills. Three others later died at the hospital.>> We believe at this time they may be related to the loss of power in the storm.
But we're conducting a criminal investigation, not ruling anything out.>> More than 100 patients were evacuated from the facility. Some were in critical condition and taken to area hospitals. The nursing home had been without air conditioning for days.>> When we responded there this morning, we became aware the conditions of some of the patients, I immediately took action.
Our investigation has revealed that it's extremely hot on the second floor of the facility.>> The Broward County Mayor says some residents at the nursing home were evacuated several days ago after waking up feeling sick. Police are looking into why all residents weren't evacuated sooner.
