A menacing message from Kim Jong-un on Friday. The North Korean leader vowing to make Donald Trump pay for threatening to destroy his country at the UN. In the first direct message ever made by a North Korean leader, Kim calls the US President mentally deranged. Threatening to tame him with fire, and saying he's considering, quote, the highest level of counter measure in history.
Reuter's, So-Yeung Kim in Seoul says, it's a threat that should be taken seriously.>> The only occasion that Kim himself has used a personal statement like this, is the New Year's speech once in the year. So the fact that he came out in such a way, and said Trump would pay the price for insulting him, his people, and country is extraordinary.
Kim tends to follow up on his words, and so the tone of his direct statement indicates that the next provocations could be something more controversial than the six nuclear tests, as well as the recent missile launches that flew over Japan.>> Kim's threat may be typically vague, but claims of what it could mean are chilling.
The North's foreign minister suggesting that Pyongyang could hit back with a hydrogen bomb test over the Pacific.>> All of North Korea's six nuclear tests, so far, have been conducted underground. And experts say a H-bomb test in the Pacific Ocean could indicate that North Korea could try an atmospheric test, meaning detonating a bomb in the air.
>> North Korea conducted it's largest nuclear test earlier this month, as it presses ahead with plans to build an atomic weapon that could hit the United States. Earlier in the week, Trump said he would destroy North Korea if it attacked the US or its allies. But, on Thursday he seemed to change tact, signing and executive order that slaps even more sanctions on Pyongyang.
