On Apple's iPhone launch day, a lot of Apple Watch fans. I'm rotor Stephen Nellis here in San Francisco at the Apple Store in Union Square. Where Apple is holding a launch day for the iPhone 8 and 8+ and the Apple Watch series 3. Even though traditionally the phone steals the show, this year things are a little different.
The launch of the phones is gonna be split into two, with the iPhone 8 coming out this weekend, and the iPhone 10, which has the new features like an edge-to-edge display, face recognition not coming out until November 3rd. So there were about 80 people lined up here at opening time at 8 AM in San Francisco and we went up and down the line and kind of informally polled folks, and what we found was there were actually a lot of people here to get the Apple Watch rather than a new phone.
And those folks said I'm gonna wait for the new phone, I want the watch now. That watch has cellular connectivity for the first time and despite a few bad reviews that came out yesterday people said they weren't deterred and wanted to give it a try. But the real story here is all the people who are waiting for the iPhone 10, that's what's gonna tell how well Apple is going to do this holiday season.
So we'll know more November 3rd.
