sidents of Puerto Rico on Tuesday, racing to secure their homes as best they can, as hurricane Maria rushes toward the island with maximum sustained winds of 160 miles per hour. The storm at category five as of Tuesday evening, and is on course to slam the US territory on Wednesday.
With a direct hit that could cripple the islands still recovering from Hurricane Irma two weeks ago, which didn't even make landfall, but still caused widespread damage and left much of the island without power. Residents in the southeast part of the island, boarding up their homes as local authorities go door to door to make sure the area is evacuated.
>> So far, Maria has killed at least one person in Guadeloupe, and has devastated the small island nation of Dominica.
