>> A deadly blaze at an Islamic boarding school in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur killing at least 25 people, mostly students. Authorities say the blaze broke out in a dormitory early on Thursday, but so far the cause is unknown. About a dozen people were pulled to safety from the burning building and several were taken to a nearby hospital.
This type of school usually houses students between the age of 5 and 18, and teaches them to memorize the Quran. That means they're unregulated by the board of education, and fall under the responsiblity of the country's religious department. Such schools have come under scrutiny since earlier this year after an 11-year old boy died following alleged abuse.
